OS X Server Essentials is a three-day course designed to give technical co-ordinators and entry-level system administrators the skills, tools, and knowledge to implement and maintain a network that uses OS X Server for El Capitan. Students learn how to install and configure OS X Server to provide network-based services, such as file sharing, web, and wikis. Tools for efficiently deploying and managing OS X are also covered. The course is a combination of lectures and hands-on exercises that provide real-world experience. Upon completion of the OS X Server Essentials 10.11 (El Capitan 201) course, students will be able to: Utilise the features of Server 5 for OS X Configure essential services on Server for OS X Use Server for OS X tools to monitor and troubleshoot services Use of Server for OS X to manage a small network of Macintosh computers and users Manage access to files and services

Objectives

Upon completion of the OS X Server Essentials 10.11 (El Capitan 201) course, students will be able to: Utilise the features of Server 5 for OS X; Configure essential services on Server for OS X; Use Server for OS X tools to monitor and troubleshoot services; Use of Server for OS X to manage a small network of Macintosh computers and users; Manage access to files and services. For Students Enrolled in a Virtual Class: Each student will need to setup two (2) computers in order to take the class virtually. The first can be a PC, tablet or Mac. The second computer must be a Mac and you will need the software (and version) being taught in the course already installed on your computer. This setup will allow virtual students to view the presentation on one computer and do support exercises on the other one.

Help-desk specialists, technical coordinators, and entry-level system administrators who implement and maintain networks using Mac OS X Server. Technical coordinators, teachers, or power users who manage computers.

Pre-requisites

Understanding of Mac OS X; experience with OS X in a network environment; basic OS X troubleshooting experience or attendance on our course, APL-MAC101-110 OS X Support Essentials 10.11 (El Capitan 101)
